e are a young community. CGSociety prides itself on promoting the arts generated by the great creative members of this community, and this makes it that much harder to fathom something like what occurred just in the last few days.

Glen Angus, known as ‘gangus’ on CGTalk, died on the 19th of July from apparent complications due to an aneurysm. Very active in every aspect of his creative life, Glen was well liked and had a drive and enthusiasm that was infectious. From the many short conversations I had with him over the phone, it was clear that Glen Angus gave of himself.

He taught students in the arts at St.Clair College in Windsor Ontario, and mentored others in the forums, no doubt also in his work at Raven and elsewhere as well. He was also very active in the ConceptArt.org forum.
Glen was working as a Senior Artist at Raven Software, focusing on character and level texturing, on Prev Gen and Next Gen console games, promotional and load screen paintings, as well as concept art. He had been part of the team creating all of the X-Men Legends franchise action RPG's, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. A graduate of St. Clair College in Windsor, where he grew up, he started as an Art Director for Ross Roy/BBDO doing catalogue and direct mail design for Chrysler Corporation in Canada.

He returned to his home college at St. Clair to be a professor of Graphic Design, specializing in teaching traditional and digital illustration and design. He freelanced as a fantasy art illustrator working for TSR from 1993, and then moved on to paint for Wizards of the Coast in 1998. He has posted a lot of fantastic work, both for the CGTalk gallery and for the books produced by Ballistic Publishing. His work was featured in the CGChoice Galleries, EXPOSÉ 4, liberally in EXOTIQUE 2 and we take this opportunity to bring them all together as an honorary pictorial feature.
Raven Software
"The loss of Glen Angus comes as a tremendous blow to Raven Software; he was a great friend and a very gifted artist. He had a unique vision and was never one to settle for artwork that was ‘good enough’; he believed in constantly pushing himself and inspiring those around him to make everything as exciting as possible.

Glen also believed in sharing his knowledge and always had the time to act as a mentor to other artists. His death is going to be felt by his co-workers at Raven for years to come; the world’s a sadder place for the loss of his creative talents and his wry sense of humor."

All Glen's friends and family appreciate the outpouring of support from the community. Glen's best friends Dan Hay and Mitch Cotie, as well as Raven Software are doing whatever they can to take care of the family and all the financial arrangements stemming from his passing.

The best way we can all support Glen's wife and children is contribute whatever we can to The Glen Angus Memorial Fund:

Any amount will help.

A link to the Raven Software "Passing of Glen Angus" page can be found here.

It contains the information above, as well as information related to Glen's autistic two year old son, Teddy.

Let's all do what we can to honor Glen's memory and help his family.
