Dassault Solidworks and Bentlley Systems each license Nexus technology

At Siggraph, there were two announcements about large CAD companies (separately) licensing technology from Luxology. Nexus is the architecture that modo is built from.

The companies are Dassault Solidworks and Bentley Systems.

How many polys?

modo users have been trying to estimate how many polygons were processed in this Luxology provided rendering of that contains untold numbers of sculpted heads. It is certainly millions, but how many billion? One guess was a trillion.

Here is the the final tally: 1.1 trillion polys, rendered in just under 6 minutes.

Whoa - what a turnout! Just got back and I must say that was a serious party! Let's do it again next year. Terry Calen's art

Just received word that Terry Calen is going to let us show some of his fine art at the Luxology Siggraph event on Monday, August 11th. Terry is a famous CG artist who has won many awards and had countless exhibitions. He is also a really nice guy and lives not so far from me here in Seattle. Some sample thumbnails of his art are shown above.
