New Solution Powered by NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 Provides High Performance Visualization of Very Large 3D Models From Remote Locations
BOXX Technologies, an innovator in high-performance computing systems for VFX, design professionals, and advanced visualization will feature SIGGRAPH demonstrations of the company’s newest specialized computing platform designed specifically to run virtual reality systems and large visualization implementations. vizBOXX, will run mental images’ newly released RealityServer 2.2, to illustrate the high level performance the solution provides for quality visualization of large models and web-based collaboration of 3D digital content. vizBOXX combines the power of NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 professional class graphics boards with top-of-the-line Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors—all available in one very dense platform.
“BOXX designed vizBOXX to satisfy the special requirements of professionals in industries such as aerospace, defense, manufacturing, scientific research and media/entertainment. We know they need both graphics and processing power to drive VR, to accelerate computing by using GPUs in new ways, or to display high resolution data on very large screens,” said Francois Wolf, director of marketing for BOXX Technologies.
RealityServer from mental images provides a perfect complement to vizBOXX. It is a unique server-based, scalable 3D web application services software platform that is ideal for creating and deploying web applications for interactive and collaborative purposes. RealityServer provides developers and system integrators in product design, automotive, aeronautics, and other industries with the ability to make high quality 3D digital content available remotely and interactively using multiple rendering options.
“We have a long-standing relationship with BOXX Technologies in creating innovative solutions for visualization and design professionals, said Rolf Herken, mental images’ CEO and CTO. “With RealityServer you can interact with very large 3D models from a remote location without having to deal with large downloads or client side viewing applications. Content remains secure on the servers, and is accessible from any client with a browser only, including mobile units.”
The NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 features a ground-breaking unified architecture delivering optimized CAD, DCC, and visualization application performance. "BOXX continues to push the limits of visualization with its new vizBOXX coupled with RealityServer technology," said Jeff Brown, general manager, Professional Solutions, NVIDIA. "Our high-performance Quadro solutions enable the newest applications, such as RealityServer, to provide unprecedented image quality for the most demanding professionals."
Come to the BOXX Technologies booth (#546) at SIGGRAPH 2008, to see RealityServer 2.2 run visually rich 3D design on a new hyper-dense and powerful vizBOXX.

Contest Winner Receives Ultra-Efficient BRAMMO Motorsports Enertia Electric Motorcycle
BOXX Technologies, an innovator in high- performance computing systems for visual effects (VFX), design professionals, and advanced visualization is tapping into the renowned creativity of the BOXX customer to design a greener future. BOXX and AMD are co-sponsoring a contest called “Creativity for a Greener World” which gives 2D and 3D visual artists anopportunity to submit their own vision of a greener world, for a chance to win an ultra-efficient BRAMMO Motorsports Enertia Electric Motorcycle. While the official contest deadline is August 22, 2008, early contest participants’ work
“While BOXX is celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2008, we are also looking to the future. BOXX is committed to supporting greater environmental awareness and promoting energy efficient technologies and the Enertia Electric Motorcycle is a great symbol of that,” said Francois Wolf, director of marketing at BOXX Technologies.
The Enertia, an urban commuter bike that exceeds 50 mph and a 40 mile range on a single three-hour charge, was designed using an APPEXX 4 super workstation APEXX™ 4 and is powered by four Quad-core AMD Opteron™ processors. AMD is also a co-sponsor of the “Creativity of a Greener World” contest.
“AMD is deeply committed as a corporation to working for a more sustainable future. AMD’s drive to achieve higher performance-per-watt is an integral part of our strategy for the AMD Opteron processor. We are pleased to co-sponsor BOXX’s SIGGRAPH 2008 campaign, Creativity for a Greener World," said Bahman Dara, worldwide senior product marketing manager, professional graphics, at AMD. "The BRAMMO Enertia electric motorcycle is representative of both AMD and BOXX’s efforts to deliver powerful computing solutions for visual effects professionals, while enhancing energy efficiency.”
“Not only does Brammo applaud BOXX for their workstations which have made the digital development of a product like the Enertia possible, but also for their efforts to promote a “Greener World”. Technology must play a larger role in solving our energy and climate crisis, and BOXX and AMD are setting a stellar example for the rest of the industry to follow,” said Brian Wismann, Brammo design director.
The work submitted must portray the concept of a "Greener World such as a non-polluting transportation system, a futuristic house with sustainable energy sources, or even green consumer products. For contest details visit the BOXX Website at www.boxxtech.com.
