Reporting and posting this videocast from the Boston SIGGRAPH 2006 show has been a fantastic way to connect the community. Having said that, nothing will ever replace coming here yourself. Attendees can all vouch for that. In the full show, SIGGRAPH welcomed and registered nearly 20,000 artists, research scientists, developers, filmmakers, and academics from 80 countries. More than 230 companies exhibited, 76 for the first-time.

There were many streams of content, through numerous Master Classes, the Recruitment Job Fair, the Electronic Theater, Emerging Technologies, gaming courses, Birds of a Feather, the Teapot Exhibition, Guerilla Studio, studio Sketches and many, many Papers delivered with themes across all boundaries and genres. Clearly too much to see in three days, but the beauty is in the choosing. Everyone I’ve spoken to, has been startled and impressed by attractions they hadn’t expected.  Like a kid in a candy store, some have just run from attraction to attraction for the entire three days. This show just keeps getting better and better.

It was also really great to meet so many CGTalkers & CGS Members who have existed only as avatars in my head until now. They have now been added to the list of massively creative people that have made coming across to Boston so worthwhile. Thanks guys.

The parties were the most social part of the SIGGRAPH spirit. Throughout the week there would have been at least thirty different parties. There was the inevitable quiet dialogue on the show floor among visitors and exhibitors alike about which party is where and what party would be the best to network.

These three CGSociety videos have been produced for the CG community, to provide you with a wide-ranging snapshot of the people, activities and features at SIGGRAPH 2006.

Thank you Boston.
