The CGSociety is at SIGGRAPH 2006 to cover the many attractions and highlights of the 33rd show. Perhaps we’ll spot something you missed, or if you didn’t make it here in person, we hope to complete the picture for you. There are many surprises in the Electronic Theatre, Emerging Technologies, the Computer Animation Festival and even a the Teapot Exhibition.
There are numerous Master Classes, the Recruitment Fair, exclusive parties, dinners and get-togethers that can only happen at SIGGRAPH! Today and over the next two days we will feature interviews with CG artists, technologists, and some major studio icons. Plus we will show you highlights from some of the biggest User Group Meetings ever to be staged. The Autodesk User Group meet was an immense success, with the party afterwards spilling out into a perfect Boston evening. This place was pumping, even before the show floor opened.
CGSociety is here at SIGGRAPH 2006 after flying half way around the world from Australia and we will continue to bring you the highlights of the events and technologies as they happen. If you are in Boston come to the Ballistic Publishing stand [#406], and say 'hello'. We are selling our books and showcasing the art of many of the world’s best digital artisans.
This year, SIGGRAPH is a little more compact than the shows out west but this is proving to be a chance for greatness. Giving the US East Coast a go has brought out a different crowd, and the parties show there's plenty of zest in the folk over here.
The show floor has just as much punch and content, with Autodesk, ILM, Imageworks, Softimage, NVIDIA, Luxology and BOXX and the many other players, all making their mark on the great many visitors.
I love these shows; I finally get to meet the people I've interviewed online or via phone, from all the way across the seas. Finally seeing them and putting a face to their name. This event is a great bonding experience which brings us all closer together. Boston itself is a charming city, despite being a tad warm right now, it is steeped with history, research and learning, which makes it the perfect location for such a ground-breaking Exhibition and Conference.
This exclusive CGSociety video is the first of three episodes produced for you as an armchair guide to SIGGRAPH 2006 in Boston. Sit back and enjoy.
