I’m putting down my 5 button guitar, and pausing the latest Guitar Hero, just long enough to bring you this week’s highlights in the world of CG...
Our big story for the week is a look at how the animated comedy ‘Bee’ was made. The DreamWorks feature was born from a conversation between Jerry Seinfeld and Steven Spielberg. Seinfeld commented how funny it would be to make a B-movie about Bees. Three years later, the offhand quip has become a fully animated laugh fest. Honey is indeed funny!
In breaking industry news, the Writers Guild of America are turning their laptops off and striking for better pay. Their big fear is that they may lose out on potential earnings when their work is shown on the internet. Will this mean that work will dry up for animators, VFX works and major studio productions later in the season? Keep your eyes peeled, on your CGS, as this story develops.
