Timeline:

Stage One: 19th December 2005 - 16th January 2006
Contestants must be registered CGTalk or CGSociety members to compete.
CGTalk Membership is free of charge.
Submission of Image and Story
Contestants are required to submit:

1. A screen resolution concept image
(with title) no greater than 800px wide in JPEG format.
2. A story excerpt (250 – 500 words), synopsis or combination of both, written in English.
Animation will not be accepted at Stage One. However contestants are permitted to post links to animated content on external sites should they wish to do so. Refined and updated concept images and stories can be submitted with final animation submissions during Stage Two.
Stage Two: 17th January 2006 - 20th February
Submission of 10 second animation clip and final submission of updated concept image and story.
Judging: 21st February - 27th February

Emotional impact and engagement will be the primary criteria for judging. Technical aspects will be secondary. In addition to the quality of the delivery items the entrants skills in building emotional attachment will be carefully appraised. The image, animation and story elements should all be viewed as a single progression drawing the player in. They should not be simple repeats and expansions but should work in harmony. more>
Announcement and Notification of Finalists: 6th March 2006
Finalists will be contacted and travel arrangements will be made. Finalists will be offered the opportunity to submit extended animations and high resolution artwork for exhibition during GDC and at the awards ceremony.
IGF Game Developers Choice Awards: 22nd March 2006
Finalists will be announced and presented to the Choice Awards audience.
Award Presentation and Reception: 23rd March 2006
Winners will be announced and prizes will be presented at a VIP Reception to be held in Club Regent at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, California. |
