Title: Final image
Notes: This image tells the steampunk version of the battle between two creatures from Greek mythology.
Pegasus, the flying horse with wings. And Chimera, a monster equipped with the head of a lion, goat and a dragon.
According to the legends Chimera was defeated by Pegasus, but I wanted this image to show a more dramatic moment
where Pegasus who is usually assumed with flying and grace is now pushed down the image with all it's weight, while Chimera is the superior one placed higher above in the middle of the attack.

as a little side story I wanted to include the "sad/fun" situation on the poor steam punk Edderchoppers "spiders"
Machines manufactured with a constant "smile" where their main task consists of pulling carried.
Smiley faces were made on them to make them appear as friendly and to make people happy, even though the majority complained that they were rather creepy looking instead.
numerous of Edderchoppers are getting destroyed during the battle. They are all terrified and overwhelm by agony. But from the look on their face, they seem to be doing just fine! =)

Title: fixes
Notes: Again, thanking you all for the crits and comments. They've all been helpfull to me.

Some of the changes:

-fixed the positions on the teethes on the lion head

-More smoke to frame in the picture more. It also tones down the big negative space shape the sky creates when it's viewed in thumbnail size.

-repainted the spiders

-raising the shoulders on Chimera, since lions shoulders are placed higher and it was making a tangent on the goat ear.

-painted more feather looking wings on Pegasus

-change some details in Pegasus' face. I tried to draw numerous of ears for it to make it look more like a horse, but it only made the design of it
more complex and the silhouette less clear. I changed the mane so it appeared more like hair.

-some more structure on Pegasus' legs.

-flipped the canvas since it makes more sense for people reading right to left.

Title: The Edderchoppers. Close up
Notes: Here's some of the changes I made on the Edderchoppers in the piece.

I really wanted to have one of them fallen over, but was unable to stand up again. Yet, it had this creepy smiling face on. So it looked like it was ok. Same for the rest of the "spiders" /edderchoppers. they're mostly all beeing destroyed.
But sadly, it's seems like they're all doing just fine because they were only manufactured with one look on their face.

Title: EdderChoppers
Notes: I had some earlier critics that the "spiders" faces didn't fit quite into the dramatic piece. The facial design on them was a bit too simplistic as well for this piece I think

I did some small re design on them.
I still want them to have a constant smile on their face (because they just happened to be manufactured that way)
but at the same time it should be a more creepy and bizzar in a way.

So here's the EdderChoppers:
(comes from the norwegian word "Edderkopp" wich means spider)

Title: changes
Notes: Here's some more updates.
Hopefully it could be finished next week because im getting so busy with other stuff after that
---------------------

-repainted the heads for Chimera. Raised the head as it was earlier in the concept sketch because it felt more wild and threatening

-changed the pose and anatomy on Pegasus. Painting with Less contrast on unimportant parts.

-More smoke and direction on the clouds to try and get more energy into it

- desaturated everything exept the heads of the animals closer to a red palette. I thoght the image was starting get to colourfull.

-tighten up the spiders and people in the streets.

-flagpoles on top of the buildings to get better framing objects

-fixed some perspective mistakes

-damage on the stairs

Title: changes and details
Notes: Here's some of the stuff I've been doing since the last image

-Legs for pegasus and chimera.
-Fixed and added the details on pegasus. Made a tail
-lighter colour on the fence so it doesent stand out to much
-starting detailing the heads on Chimera
-smoke/steam from chimeras chimneys (should probaby rotate them more backwards and make the steam more obvious)
-lower contrast on Chimara compared to Pegasus to get better depth
-sketching in more "spiders"
-More debris and "spiders" thrown out

Title: Horse sketches
Notes: Did some quick studies so could feel more comfertable drawing horses. I do really want to have legs on pegasus.

Title: building details
Notes: Starting to build up some details on the background elements.

I also want the poor spiders to have a constant smileyface. So even if one of them have fallen upside down and cant get up, or is thrown out of screen they still have a smile on their face because its basicly the only expression they are able to do=)

Title: self critique
Notes: I drew some selfcritisim on top of my paiting including a bunch of suggestions I got from the forum members (Thanks again! =D)

After looking at the scaled and non scaled version of pegasus, I decided to keep him tin the original size now. It did loose some dynamics and it also gave less room for the debris to fly around. (And I do want to have room for tossing those "spiders" around ^_^)

Title: Concept
Notes: This might be very cliché, but I was thinking of a robotic ape creature coming trough a huge crowded 1800s looking city street. The vehicles would be "horse wagons" pulled boy some sort of robotic creatures. Maybe the ape would be holding a lady in his arms. That would be very King Kongish, but maybe it would work as a a nice twist to it. Not sure yet.

I'd like the ape to feel very much like a massive train, so I wanted to include lots of stairs that would in a way symbolise railroad tracs.

Crits and comments always welcome =D
