| Title: |
David and Goliath |
| Notes: |
The famous British Industrialist and inventor, Sir Gerald Oswald Liath, of Liath Industries, has for the past 10 years been a recluse, seen only by those of his immediate household at his large country estate and workshop he build in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside.
Sir Gerald has had dark dreams of the filth and sqallor of the slums his factories have helped to create in the sprawling slums of London. His mind becomes fixed on bring the whole festering mess down and re-building the city as the gleaming Eden it should have been. Sinking into madness, he finally creates his greatest work, the giant Goliath, the first of an army of machines that will bring about the visions of his crazed mind.
But the poor and downcast of London showed the genius of their spirit and hope in the young boy, David, who felled the giant on the dawn of the fatful day, with a small cobble from the mud of those same streets Sir Gerald loathed so much.
95% Photoshop with some elements of machinery created in Illustrator, and Cinema 4D used once to map a base image of the cast relief on the main body of Goliath. |

So this is my final image - unless anyone has anything to say?
Final image is 2500x4650
The famous British industrialist and inventor, Sir Gerald Oswald Liath, knighted by the queen for services to industry, has for the past 10 years been a recluse, hardly seen by anyone outside of his immediate family and household at Liath Hall, the large country estate and workshops he built in the heart of the Sussex countryside.
Sir Gerald has been having dark dreams of the filth and squalor his factories inadvertently helped create in the sprawling slums of the city of London. His mind became fixated on the purpose of clearing those slums, bringing the whole festering mess down and rebuilding the city as the gleaming new Eden it was meant to be. Long he toiled, spending a considerable part of his fortune, to build his greatest work, Goliath, the first of an army of machines that would bring about his dream.
But the poor and downcast of London were not defeated. Their spirit and genius was born in one small boy named David, who was not afraid. He brought the mighty Goliath down with a single dirty pebble from those very streets Sir Gerald hated so much. |

Light test |
| Notes: |
I've quickly daubed on some lights without think too much about the details of the sources.
Is this way off? On the right track?
I'd really appreciate some help.
Looking at David again, I think it looked better with the middle of the composition more open. Any thoughts? |

I been flipping the canvas and moving and rotating figures and cleaning up and linking the background better.
Does this look better? Is David clearer and the link with the Controller better? |

I've played around with adjustment layers to darken areas and bring back some of the heaviness and stronger silhouette as was mentioned. Also continuing to paint ruble and work on brickwork.
Is this better?
Still more to do on foreground figures and perhaps lighting |

Thanks, Jassar.
Here's a 100% screen grab of the controller, Sir Gerald, strapped in safely and very determined to get that little rascal giving some cheek in front.
I've been playing with adding some lamps. I'll post for some comments. |

I'm back and I've been doing a lot more to Goliath - but probably doesn't look like it.
Can't do any more now - it's after 4am. Got to get some sleep before work.
Still more to do to the buildings and a bit to the characters. Then maybe just add some lamps around Sir Gerald's head to bring some warm light.
Thanks for all the nice comments, I'll answer better tomorrow.
Hope there's a bit of an extension. |
