Date Submitted: Friday, 04 June 2004
Title: c#3-raw rendering
Notes: This is raw, clean render. 1/1 size is 4652x2657 300dpi.
Cuz of very, very long render times I've decided
to render only one full scene together and then render out various
alphas so I can split plans and elements into layers.
Plus I will render Z and occlusion passes.
I still have to model a few things but will leave that for
the end. As for this final layout it is not by-the-book
but I liked the view and decided to go for it. I hope post
will be fun and wild...

cheers

Date Submitted: Thursday, 03 June 2004
Title: c#3-light
Notes: My light setup is simple with one backlight area omni (mental ray)
and skylight/HDRI, with final gather. Also some ground, layered
(in scene) fog as a lighting element.
The image is a quick test to see what direction to take for
the compositing and effects. And a few more 3D and particle
elements will be added.....
I'll post clean, raw render later tonight...

Notes: (click for big)

Egg shader... I wanted to have exacltly that - a sence
of volume inside the eggs. The MIST in volume slot does that,
and it is set with layering so the bottom is denser (like the blood
has settled down) and as you go up it becomes more transparent. Also
as it is a true volume shader - everything that is more inside the
egg is less visible and vice versa, tentacles that are more close to
the walls of the egg - you can see them clearly. What adds greatly to
that effect is BLUR TRANPARENCY turned on in the SURFACE>Glass Lume Shader.
Another thing is mask controled BUMP wich adds slight iregularity on the
surface of the egg.

Hope this is helpful to all MR users regardless of software.

Note that parameters will depend on your scene scale!

Romeoinferno: Hope this helps :) ...

Dimi: your support is invaluable friend!!!

Cygnus_X: Thanks mate! Your Alien is Awesome!!!Keep it up!!!

Some progress, tho still looks very, very bad. No details, no sss yet.
I've never had to make real flesh. Very difficult indeed. My wife said:
"Hmm, very strange vase...". :(

Any sugestions?
Any tips??

mosconariz: (max/MR), no scripts, just playing with material channels,
lots of layers and couple of big textures - no tricks, pretty basic stuff.

"Life and Death in a Coral Sea"
Written by Jacques-Yves Cousteau with Philippe Diole:

- Coral as it kills, eats, lives, and dies.
- Death by pollution.
- Coral building blocks.
- The doctorfish and other friends of coral.
- The great coral parasols -- and cemeteries.
- An infinity of atolls.
- What coral is really like.
- How a reef captures its food and eats it.
- Tentacles waving in the night.
- Sea fans, tree shapes, walls, and discs of coral.
- Coral Traps.
- Sunken ships clothed in coral.
- A dying reef, killed by oil, garbage, and debris.
- A White-Haired Wreck.
- Exploring coral-covered hulks.
- Life Around the Coral Reefs.
- The ecological equilibrium of coral massifs and surrounding fauna.
- The sea anemone and clown anemonefish.
- Delivery of the Sea Fleas.
- Watching a coral reef die.
- Finding the ancient sea level, marked by coral.

Notes: Ok, here is my 3rd concept!!! (I hope final one, heh)

CORAL REEF has just started forming on an alien space wreck.
Together, Coral and a million tons of titanium junk will
create a world of flesh and machinery living symbioticaly
in a peacefull, quiet corner of Universe.

There is more story but later...

Note: I think there is a face in the image - two eyes
and the mouth (holes) - maybe I'll use that in some way.
Anyway lots of space to fill, huh. We'll see how
this one goes.

And if you think Discovery, yes, I watched some last night,
and voila, hehe, dmn TV.

that's it

now, get to work people :)

Basic shape created in Max then messed up in ZBrush (1.55).
It's fun and it takes no time. Then taken back to Max, applied MultiRES (red dot)
to kill huge poly count, and than tweeked slightly (mostly around eyes), and smoothed.

March 2050.

The HeadSpider (not in the pic) is actually a gameTester in an earlyAlpha adventure (poor guy, hehe).
There is a simple door in the upper left corner, where you can enter the GameEngine
and observe some action while on coffee break.
Enjoy.

Have to decide on one of these?
Face expression of the HeadSpider? It would be totaly
different in relation to A and B, something like this?:

(note - finger stays for sure)

A - Head/eyes looking at camera or extremely up, head pulled down a bit (like when you expect a hit)
face depicting inevitable, finger/hand/arm more relaxed.

B - Face depicts a maniac mad man, excited by the hole ordeal, big grin. Not sure where
he looks at - straight forward or halfway towards the Fly. Maybe a big Cuban in teeth.
Finger/hand decisevly up.
