Click for full-sized image		Milestone: Final Image Date Submitted: Saturday, 27 May 2006 Title: The fall of the Vess Khala Notes: As I told You all the background story of this picture in the scetch milestone so i decided to tell you rather about their life this time. This not a story about medieval times ,this ain't a space opera either. They are living in "our" times. They know how to fly ,how to send messages on long distance (like telegraph or somethin) .But still they use cold steel weapons (So not be supprised to see high heels and sword at the same time :)) ,they have noble ancient clans ,strong faith and churches ,but in the same time they has great knowledge about chemistry ,biology or even DNA engeenering,some nations (especially the Empire) are very industrial (see my "kambir" image) ,they build colonies on most hostile lands of this planet (working name "Venhelis"),fight with teryffing creatures living there for every inch of the land. But the fight is worth its price -exploration for all cost!!! The Empire is the "evil " one. They started war they always wanted to be most powerful nation on the planet. But they love art, entertainment, has strong repect to history ,faith,rules and family. The Empire wasn't so evil in past. They just were one step forward to other nations , they disovered great power of blue liquids ( something like uranium but liquid), they found new resouces in Kambir,for that moment claimed as useless for all other nations. But they knew how to use them(how? -well this is what is all that "vehelis" project about! so I can;t tell You now). And in very short time they show to the world ,results of using those resources- new ,fast and powerful machiness, for example " Kuleenian slaughter" a battle of 300 Imperial troopers against 15 thousands (!) natives of Zabirian valley. The empire casualties was only 35 dead and 56 wounded. None of those 15 K has survived. The Empire just want to test a new machine Spirtul (something like machine gun- catapult which can send 10 k blades per minute ) - the test was very succesfull ,but it was 23 years ago ,think what they've got now! This advantage of the Empire made other nations little jealous ,and frighten "expansion of the Lanelian nation must be stoped! " , " if they conquer Zabir ,now preaparing to conquer Kambir ,what will be their next objective?!" nations of the Steel Ring (something like European Union - a Union of 21 most advanced and acient Clans on Venhelis)use to say. So Steel Ring decided to stop Lanelinas. This is another story ,but this was most darkest moment of the Lanel (home of the Lanelian Nation and Epire now) . Only 15% of lanelian nation has survived this embargo ,then war and extermination at the end. Then elders of the Lanel nation sweared to take a revange on Steel Ring. For 12 years they were building a secret army in Pandakara, they inventioned many new killing machines meanwhile ,far more powerfull than Spirtul. But the most important was, that executed Lykaien's (Leader of Lanelians) son , only suvived and hidden by nobles son ,was now at the age aloving him to take a throne of the Lanel as a King. So now Lykaine's son claim him self as a new Emperor of the newborn world ,and takes a revenge on Steel Ring for dead of his family and slughter of his nation. With Nobles ,great knowledge of chemistry ,biology , engeenerig ,powerfull technologies, new discovered resources at hand they buliding a "NEW ORDER" . But even well prepared by Nobles to be a coldblooded tyran , Eperor of the NEW WORLD has fallen in love with Neida - just a girl from destroyed northen civilization. That has changed everything but ,again- this is completly other story. Unfotunatelly I can't tell You whole story here ,but You I can sure You that is not my last concept art for "venhelis " project. So there will be more opportunities to tell You more stories about Vakkun and her sister Neida. That was great pleasure to take part in this challenge. Click for full-sized image		Milestone: Final Coloring Date Submitted: Friday, 26 May 2006 Title: The fall of the Vess Khala Notes: "Time to say goodbye" or "Masterpiece is never finished" as some said. I could spend another few weeks working on this but I must get back to my work and this Challenge deadline is comming up too.So there it is , final touch on my artwork. Some revolutionary changes in composition ,Vakkun's face has been fixed so i hope no one calls her "he" again :D , also fixed Neida's face so she is now little preetier ,even (maybe I didn't say that before ) she is quite ugly , not to mention she's been taking strong drugs for few years before that scene has place.and... ? ? ..o yes, I reworked foliage in left corner coz it was quite empty. Almost forgot - Vakkun's uniform has been reworked too ,so now you can see what she ( it is she!! ;)) is exactly doing down there (under her cloak before). next: final image with image's background and story. Click for full-sized image		Milestone: Coloring WIP Date Submitted: Monday, 22 May 2006 Title: The fall of the Vess Khala Notes: Hello again. As You can see there is lot of changes in this one. First I made it little darker, and plan to make it even more dark and hazy. Just like the storm is about to come , thinking also about adding some snow maybe? I'd like this envirorment as much unfriendly as possible. Second change is another possition of sisters, i moved them little to right bottom corner ,to emphase perspective. Im thinking also about to remove wings of the closest ship -they cover too much background..but we will see about that yet. As for background- well ,I always take backgrounds as a secondary target at my work. But this time I toked it as a first task ,so it is almost finished (I will add just a few details in final i think) . Now I don't need to worry about it anymore so I can spend rest of my time on the main subject -characters. there is still lot to do with them so I 'd better get back to work . See You next time. However, still main character -Neida is not in the "spot light" . The stairs are too bright ,they should be covered more by shadow from ambient back-light(as they are on lineart). then if i put some spotlight on first plan ( behind kneeling Vikka) I think I can focus more attention on both sisters...Anyways it is easier to be done ,than to describe how to do this (especially in english ;)) so lets waste no more time on talking and get back to work,shall we? Click for full-sized image		Milestone: Concept Sketch Date Submitted: Friday, 05 May 2006 Title: The fall of the Vess Khala Notes: Hello everyone in my WIP to "The Journey Begins" CGT Challenge.I will try to tell You something interesting/usefull here about my ideas ,concept , techniques etc etc , but first i'd like to apologyse for my english-it's not perfect You know :D Lets hope my art will keep most of your attention instead my grammar mistakes , ok lets begin. First - concept scetches. This scene is in my mind for over 4 years, it's one of the most dramatical moments in Neida and Vakkun 's lifes. Sounds familiar? O yes ,this is another fragment of project "venhelis" of mine , I'm working on it whenever i have some time, and CGT cahllenge is just perfect oportunity to share my ideas with bigger oudience(I hope to publish it someday so I 'd like to know if You like it or not) . So ,sorry for being monothematic :) to the image: Neida ,younger sister was sentence to exile to the worst place on...planet XX (it is not important right now) . Before the trial ,she was on very top of her careere, right hand of the Emperor himself, but acctually far more powerfull then him. I can't tell You right now what was the trial all about...(maybe I will explain in in later milestones) let say it was too dangerous for Empire to held her on such powerfull possition. More important is that she kept all her honours as a member of Nobles. Vakkun her older sister is a Sister of the Green Water (ancient, holly clan-something like Templars). the Court and emperor alowed her to see Neida for the last time ,before she will be sent to "gulag". So here we are: Neida in chains ,defeted , but with anger on her face.Vakkun kneeled before her saying last "goodbye" and the Imperial Guards keeping company to "vess khala" on her last way.In background , huge docks,air port ,massive traffic, many transporters ,escorts,and other types of aircrafts, thousands of prisoners in chains walking to transport vehicles under strong escort.
