Title: ok FINAL IDEA
Notes: ok this is my final idea for the whole scene... the "city" is insidea huge cylinder thing which has many of those power cables on its walls, much like the interior of a borg cube. many many + very small = large scale. the cables coming out from the central column as well as the "city" are moving, which makes the place feel "alive". ok lots needs to be tweaked. for example, the the out of place cable, the background has to be tweaked a little bit more etc. motion blur needs to be added. opinions?

P.S anyone know why the cables seem transparent and show teh background? im thinking that maybe its because of reflections... but the ior on the material is 8 so i dont know why it is so. any suggesions?

P.S(2) anyone have any suggestions to improve the scene?

Title: swirling graviton vortex of uber-death
Notes: presenting my swirling graviton vortex of uber-death. :D i think i overdid the motion blur, it will be toned down in the next render. and i forgot to enable motion blur on the rings... DOH! anyways im going to start on the bg now... :D

Title: swirling graviton vortex
Notes: swirling graviton vortex of death? sorta. the background will be stars and moon that also swirl with it... i need to get a lot more swirling and i will be mostly done methinks. going to bigh white tmr if all turns out well, so i will probably be away for three or four days. :D

Title: graviton rings
Notes: ok so there are two rings that are like artificial gravity. and they attract you thats why u are standing on teh bottom one. ok im mostly done with this part of the image, just lots of tweaking to be done. im kinda sick of starting at the same thing the whoel day long thinking of stuff to be added. i think that there isnt really much mor stuff to be added that wont screw the image up, so ill start working on the backgorund now. i have no idea what the background is going to look like but im going to experiemnt with it right now. so this is what the foreground is going to look like. opinions?

Title: more and more texturing
Notes: heres my first try at the texture for the tentacles... its procedural and it doesnt look particuarly good right now. whats amazing is that it took a whopping 22 minuties to render this picture so i couldnt resist posting it. another amazing thing is that i never knew textures made THIS much of a difference before i made them. wow. i always though bare models were enough... but it looks so much better with textures... its amazing really. i already learned something here! :D

Title: lighting + pov test
Notes: yeah this looks like it was rendered with a skylight don't it? but it wasn't! its rendered with my new lighting rig and not skylight! yay! and i tweaked the camera angle a wee bit. i still have to think about what to fill teh rest of the picture with... and theres only 19 days left or something ahhh tick tock tick tock tick tock... pressure is mounting!

Title: update to cables
Notes: im still working really hard at the futile task of creating textures, but i managed to do the cables though. and i rendered this with both skylight and the normal lighting... il lstill have to work on everything and theres onl 20 days left im running out of time been wokring on this like 4-6 hours a day from dawn(12pm) to dusk (2am) running between the computer (work) and tv (while rendering). net total for work actually done its probably likr 4-6 hours though... if not its a lot of wasted time... arhhhhhhhh... hmm i actually usually only work during commercial breaks... maybe thats why... anyway its 2:20 am on new years day happy new years day and happy '04 im going to bed now BYE!

Title: bg building one
Notes: one of the many (soon) background buildings that will be put into my pitiful waste of pixels i call art. anyhoo, i guess its about time that i tell you about my plans. i was thinking of a castles-in-the-sky type of thing, only that the main focal building thingy is the castle, and the twist is that it will be sort of etheral, all glowly and transpareny and less opaqey and such.

oh yah and merry christmas!!!!!!!!

Title: more modelling
Notes: gah! my pitiful thread has deprecated to page 4, beyond the eyes of anyone sensible. my one week escapade at whistler with my parents was fun, but i did drag my fat (HUGE) computer there, so i managed to get some work done in between the tumbling down the mountain and guzzling down ice cream. some progress has been made on my little castle-in-the-sky thing... and here are two views. also one of the background buildings, more to come.

Title: Sketch: Beam Harvester
Notes: This is my first sketch - i made it during boring socials class. it features an idea ive been thinking about for a while, an oil-refineryish building. but it "harvests" magnetic ores by melting it with plasma and then using EM to transport it up the shaft, where it is then refined and blasted off into space in an ion beam. :D
