Title: final Image, the Birthplace of the Light
Notes: This is the Story:

As the time went by, and as the stars began to fade
out, me, the delegate of the 1000 galaxies, was send
to the place of everlasting light, where for millions
of sun-lives, no living nature dared itself to appear.

The wisest of all tell that this place here is
of all the origin, but when I entered this world, all
glorified lightness seemed to be disappeared.

After many weeks of exhausting walk through valleys
and deserts, I suddenly stepped on a soft ground, with
each step softer and softer, while whispering voices
bounced at the surrounding mountains back to me -
stories of longing, reminding me at the music of the
Wales.

And as I advanced through the hell of the labyrinth,
entering the center of the planet, in front of me
opened an overwhelming picture of a giant
wale-skeleton, out of which a cosmic eruption shotting
into the infinity of the universe, and over the whole
surface of the planet spreading a resplendent net of
light!

I was ingrained in a network of flittering lights and
stars, while the planet was breathing, and that was
the moment, when I realized that, right now, I was
witnessing the birth of a new life cycle!

Title: Compositiontest
Notes: after my max crashed the 4th time, i have lost somehow all my maps. I had no 300 dpi shot done yet of the finnished whale, but the chance, I can finnish is very very small.
I actually post here the last version i had in 1024, it was a compositiontest without the particles and the additional geometry.
Was nice to dream and work along with you. I will fight until the last minute, but I 99% gave up.
Enjoy this little imprssion of what Ive been workin on...
Wish those who have made all steps best luck for the judgement, you all big time rock!

Title: texture update
Notes: Textureupdate, now that i've roken the specularity a bit, it reacts nice soft into the light. Also the fine nuances now get visable, I could never show how it really looks like, hope this 300dpi closup shows it a bit. The shader is a quiet complex mix of blended bitmaps and procedurals. This is the caveshader I go for. Next update comes soon!
Keep on rockin'!!!

Title: Modeling and a lil test for a submaterialmix
Notes: Just a small update, some all in one...
Was playing around on a lil submaterialmix, the lines are not chosen too happy, will correct that, as i done it on a copy of the modeled element and meshsmoothed the covermat. Can do it again of course....would like to know if you like the idea of the Submat.
Dear, this Challenge sets me on pure adrenaline, Had some silly Virus or something that left crash my machine this morning again, and the maxfile was adios. Was starting from a 2 days back version and have worked now strictly rocketspeed to get back what i've done.
The end os neeeear... haha! :)

Title: Rocks,
Notes: Yes, my machine rocks again, so I'm back with some rocks for the back...
Well, its fairly simple to do it my way. I assigned my referencebitmap on the lowpoly poly, then cut to optimize the edges for the bumps. Taking care it stays seemless I model in and out the main bumps, then local meshsmooth and model (fractal thinking) on the next level. now, thats enough, the rest is easy. I do NOT place some blindtapping displacementmap on the texture as i prfer to see what I do, I take my referencebitmap and put it as displacementmap into the displacementmodifier. with one interpolation I have a nice lil "verticlecloud" to paint over my bitmap i open in photoshop now and overpaint it with black or white... everytime I save my image and click on max, I see the effect my "deeppainting has" and its fun, cuz you airbrush the displacementmap almost in realtime.
Was fun to make it and right see the mesh, so have a great time and keep on rockin!

Title: The final direction
Notes: After playing around with different connection possebilleties, i created this construction. I've found straight connections very boring and I've found time to start modeling on this. This is the final direction my Composition will lead to, a few towers and some minor details will be added soon, next is to get done with the center, my mainobject now next. when I added the minor details on the wall in the background, ther's only a bit subgeometry to add in such as cristals and vegetation and the background wall, and then the biggest step is done.
Hope you like my new update, I'm quiet pleased with this direction, cuz I think the round shaping supports the dynamic in a lucky way, and I'm open for any suggestions of course, keep on rockin' mates and make me go WOW!!!!

Title: New Layout started today
Notes: Wanted to bring in more dynamic and felt stuck in landscape, besides, I anyways love posterformat, it gives you more space to play with sky or any upper things, make things bigger.
This is the new direction I am heading now. I have many towers to model now and the structure will also get refined of the "organic rocks".
Well, one day of rearrangong things. Also added the first Lighteffect, to show you where its going.
Any suggestions on this are most welcome. Keep on rockin' mates, so will I!!!

Title: Modeling 7-2
Notes: Ok, first thank you very very much much for all your support, when I'm tapping clumsy around in the dark valey of lost cg artists.
Ian Jones : Thank you for the suggestions, I appreciate very very much. Bout the ridge line from the mountains, I'ts just a placeholder but I already broken the line a bit up by adding the first lowlevel models that from the "ambienceobjects" (lowpolycrap that has not complex geomerty, just a bit displacement and is not really a match to model) to break that line a bit.
Plants are a good sugestion. As soon as I'm done with the general surfaceshape, I planed to work over a rich and shiney flourescent accented whatever kinda alien vegetation in the style of my first concept.
It's true, it yet looks very static. I already checked out a few cam angles, and I agree with you the centered perspective stuff sucks royally.
I plan to use this work for my new showreel, and make a few animated secuences, Particle spitting shiny poddy flowers, a fly trough, also over the brutplaces inside the "whale" that my Girlfriend used to say to it.
I will make a huge fancy kind of energyfull flame that spreads much and will fill the now still empty room a bit. I loved alsos Raviolirangers Idea of some kinda sparkling drones, I see some jellyfishlike semiorgani drones collecting the energy that comes of the hole from the ground.
Can't wait to kill that awefull procedurals, and replace em by some really cool maps. Besides, I cant wait I've finnished modeling.
And i done great in having 2 days longer now, I got trown back in my progress because I can be stoopid sometimes.
What happend? My Cell rang, I jumped up, went to the window while my File was rendering. I fell over the powercable and it went black. Couldnt open the newest file anymore and because I have s stoopid high polycount and I was pissed of by the autobackup taking me out of my workflow so I took it out. 2 days of work LOST!)
I have worked from the last stage now, tried to figure out what my way used to be and did not come too fat yet, but to give you a slight Idea of where I am,
and where it leads me to. I want the elements first be all visable and as authentic to the sketch be placed in there. I propably will have a few modeled parts noone will ever see, but in case of I make a flighttrough animation n stuff it won't be lost.
Well, I have to get stuffed now, and I think after drinkin and eatin too much as always on this date, I this was it for today.
Have all great and memoriable X-Mas and I'll see you back here soon, mates!

Title: Modeling day 1
Notes: Just started this afternoon, to explain how i work, I made a very lowpoly version of the general components and mapped the drawing on it, so i could work as precise and fast as possible. Then then i stated with a few slines and surfacetool, these are just helpers. I generally work on a very high level of details, cuz I'm an idiot 0;o) ...whatever, to have freference points, I started doing a 3 dimensional sketch and will refine the scene now day by day. Goodluck mates and keep on rockin!
