Title: Walls of Gaar
Notes: My Final Image. I called it "Walls of Gaar". Planet: well, I called it Dytheros. A litle tricky huh ;-)

Once again, I'd like to thank all of You who inspired me, who really cared what I was doing here. Thank You! My friend The1stAngel once said - "For me you are all winners."! Yes. I agree with him! It was really GREAT participating in this contest! Can't remember last time I was having so much fun, adrenaline and learning that much! Also I'd like to thank CGTalk, CGNetworks and Alienware team for launching such contest!

My Special thanks go to:

the1stAngel, Rattlesnake, Splotch, Pigwater, Saturen, BClaw, Weider, riki, eska, nuclearman, migas74, Designer2, adr
spears, gsuhy, Pyke, Cullen, 3db2, donnybliss

Hope we gonna keep in touch after the contest too ;-)

Milestone: Post Effects and Compositing
Date Submitted: Saturday, 17 January 2004
Title: Some compositing updates
Notes: Finally came to post&compositing stuff. I have revised color gamma and decided to more concentrate on it so it would better and more clearly express general mood of composition. Also mixing and playing with different tricky layer modes I advanced ground texture to something more interesting (I hope ;) ) Played a bit with Sky background. Intentionally didn't make it too noisy and complex. I'm afraid that it would distract attention from the main Center and things that I want to accent.

Milestone: Rendering
Date Submitted: Friday, 16 January 2004
Title: Finalizing composition
Notes: That's how it looks rendered 1024 pixels wide and a bit edited in Photoshop. Today goin' to start applying post effects and detailed, accurate editing in Photoshop.

Milestone: Modeling
Date Submitted: Thursday, 15 January 2004
Title: Spline modeling technics
Notes: I prefer Spline and polygonal modeling. Spline modeling concept really gives incredible freedom creating organic forms. 70$ of my work here is based on Spline Modeling and the rest is Polygonal and box modeling (lowpoly model/meshsmooth)

Milestone: Lighting
Date Submitted: Wednesday, 14 January 2004
Title: Another lighting test
Notes: Put one directional light (raytraced shadows), two omnis with different color and intensity parameters and a Skylight with Light Tracer. This is the way it looks a bit edited in Photoshop. I use Photoshop to give soft color tone and to accent exact details. I almost done with Lighting.

This image was really hard-to-render! Max has been crushing for 10 or 20 times (didn't actually count ..was too angry ;) ) But that's not Max's problem - I was out of RAM, yeah yeah..having 512 mb of RAM isn't a piece of cake )) But finally it took 6 hours to render this.

Title: Modeling update
Notes: So that's the way it looks maped on the model. I intentionally didn't place it within environment - jis' let it look like a small modell on someone's desk so it is better lit and seen :)

Date Submitted: Sunday, 11 January 2004
Title: Texturing
Notes: Took me about 1 day to draw this in Photoshop :) This is a small version of original map - original is approx 4000x4000. Workin' with sizes more than 2000 pixels, I am able to finetune textures as much as I can paying attention to minor details. I like texturing with Mat IDs but this time I prefered unwraping geometry.

Notes: Finally I've finished modeling and clearly imagine what it's gonna look like :) Already Started texturising..wooo.. This is definitely Not going to be a piece of cake!

Title: test 2
Notes: Here is another test pic. Such "middle" renderings help a lot to imagine more and to discover that may be some lines out there really need motivation.. :)

Title: modeling test
Notes: This is how my modeling stage is goin' :) I'll add lots of details later and certainly it's not the way it should look in final rendering. There will be more detalised structures and also I am thinking about doing some color sketches on the basis of rendered test pics.

Date Submitted: Saturday, 15 November 2003
Title: No title
Notes: This is the sketch of structure that will take approx. 2\3 of whole composition but surely in another forshortening. This structure acts like a main server and incubator for modules that act as clients.

Date Submitted: Thursday, 06 November 2003
Title: Bionetworks
Notes: This is a beginning of my storyline. I thought it would be great to show organic nature of alien landscape living its own life. Not scary life, not disgusting and definitely not decaying. I wanted to show prosperous place, I called it Dytheros, where we observe something that is equivalent to computer networks on Earth.
